Massage in Schools Programme
MISP - Peer Massage - Every Child Matters - PHSCE

Massage was first introduced into schools in the UK in 2000, and originated in Sweden. Promising results had been obtained there helping to reduce bullying, improve interaction of children and social skills. There was also increased concentration and retention. Children were more able to learn when the day started with peer massage and teachers reported that children were better behaved.
Children enjoy learning the massage sequences and learn to work with children that they may not have otherwise chosen to. Children feel that they have more friends as they interact with one another. They learn to consider and respect one another. They also learn how to relax.
Sheila also has experience working with children and families with the Charity Homestart. She has a Diploma in health and Social care and Health and Social Welfare, and is a School Governor at a local Primary School.
