Aromatherapy is a complimentary therapy bringing you the therapeutic properties of plants to help improve both physical and emotional wellbeing. Helping to restore the harmony of mind body and spirit.

Aromatherapy is most effective in therapeutic massage, called aromatherapy massage. Relaxing or uplifting fragrances are often used within the oil blend used for the massage.

The essential oils have been extracted from the plants and can be absorbed by the skin so the can reach organs through the bodies circulation systems. Sometimes aromatherapy is used in inhalations. The oils can have a physical effect by causing chemical changes in your bodies systems. They cause a psychological effect when you inhale the fragrance. Our sense of smell has rapid direct access to the brain, so this can have an immediate effect on your body.

Aromatherapists regularly use around 50 oils to help a variety of conditions. Each oil has its own different therapeutic properties. Potential benefits include the relief of stress and tension, deep relaxation, stimulated immune system, improved blood and lymph circulation, a calm soothed mind, increased energy levels and a general sense of wellbeing.

Aromatherapy is suitable for most adults but there are certain conditions where you should avoid it. It is therefore advisable to see a qualified Aromatherapist to make sure that aromatherapy is right for you. A Doctor's permission is sometimes required before treatment can commence, for example if you have a heart condition. A skilled aromatherapist will create a blend of oils tailored specially for you.

To gain maximum benefit from aromatherapy massage, and to give the oils time to be fully absorbed, don't shower or bath for 8 hours, also avoid bath oils and salts for 24 hours.

Always drink plenty of water to help flush away toxins, and avoid alcohol and tobacco for at least 24 hours.
